Day 3 in Valencia

Sunrise and ready to go, today was the day to visit the Oceanography centre. Firstly, we walked past the Science museum which was hosting the Mercedes European training. There were hundreds of mercedes and brand new ones sat on water...it looked stunning. A visit to El Saler provided an opportunity to practise Spanish when buying breakfast and some snacks to have in the day. We walked to the Oceanography Centre and ate our breakfast in the sun. We took our seats for the dolphin show. People were chosen to go and feed the dolphins by answering questions about the dolphins in Spanish. The dolphins did synchronised jumping, lifted people up in the air and flicked their tails. We then went to see the Beluga whale and the first underwater aquarium. There was a shark which had a baby which swam beneath it. The stingrays swam over us when we were in the tunnel and you could see their gills. There was a MASSIVE sunfish which we had never seen before. We also saw tropical fish, jellyfish, turtles, sea lions and penguins. The Oceanography Centre is really big and there is loads to see. We spent the whole day there. Lots of us thought the dolphin show was amazing.

My time in Valencia

25/3/2013 Today we went to the oceanography centre, we watched a dolphin show that was one of the best I've seen. Seeing all the different aquatic mammals and fish was good because I like animals so it was nice seeing different breeds. The whole place was wonderful because it was just full of different kinds of animals and we learnt things we didn't know already about them. The tunnels we walked in were great because there is water all around you with all the fish and sharks swimming in it. Some of the things that we learnt were that walruses swim by pushing themselves along with their flippers, icebergs can reach up to 150 metres high above sea level, while three quarters of it's mass remains submerged under water, narwhales are related to the beluga whale, polar bears eat smells rodents like fish and seals because they are easy prey and baby sharks can eat each other. Chloe G Paige A Today we went to the oceanography centre we saw a beluga whale, the boys thought it was fake. We saw the dolphin show, it was amazing! They spoke in Spanish which we tried to understand. The dolphins were really clever. It hasn't rained here yayyyyy but we have to go back to London where it is snowing its been funnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Jazmine A I thought that all whales were blue other than killer whales but I have now been proved wrong by the beluga whales which are white. Also I have learnt there are 17 different types of penguin and that there are 36 different types of dolphin and that they have 84 teeth whereas we have like 30. So far we have had loads of fun and found out loads of new facts which were very interesting. Angel O Today we went to the oceanography and we watched a dolphin show, it was amazing!!! Who ever knew dolphins are so talented. After we went for a walk back to the hotel. Then we stayed at the hotel for a little while and then went for dinner. It was a long walk..... But in the end we learnt some new facts which was good!!!!

Day 2 in Valencia Vamanos!

Breakfast: No one needed a wake up call as we were ready to go! Quick look at the map together and a talk through the day ahead meant we needed breakfast fuel. A walk over the bridge with a view of the Oceanography centre and Science museum in the lovely sunshine was a great start to the day. We went for breakfast at a cafe and looked through the menu, there wasn't much choice. We had chocolate croissants or bacon sandwiches and orange juice. The food was ok so that was a good thing. Walking to the park We had a really long walk to a park which had loads of slides and things and it was really big. The park was Gulliver's face, legs and arms. Going to town We walked to the market and saw a cathedral inside there was people praying and outside there was people selling paper decorations for Easter made out of straw reeds folded into shapes. We had ice cream that has about 40 different flavour including terron, donuts,Oreo and loads more. We all ordered in Spanish. After a short walk some of us bought a hotdog and walked to the metro station to go to the beach. Beach We went to the beach which was full of sand and it had beautiful water. We buried Shania in the sand! The massive climbing ropes provided a challenge to climb to the top. We stayed there for about an hour and just before we left we played a memory game about the things we liked best about Valencia so far. Highlights included the flight, making new friends, the hotel (particularly the amazing powerful showers), the food and speaking Spanish and being understood. Imax Then we got on the metro to get imax cinema to watch two films, one about a turtle and the other one about a magical prince in 3D. We had the option to listen to it in English or Spanish, but most of us chose English. Some people's headphones didn't work to change the language so they listened to it in Spanish. Lots of the phrases we know we're heard during the film. Dinner We went to dinner in a Spanish restaurant. The food was really nice, there was pasta, croquets mussels and octopus. Shanay ate octopus thinking it was a piece of onion! There were lots of dishes to choose from. As it was a buffet we could have a variety and try new things. lots of people had dessert of fruit which Mrs Fehrenbach and Miss Clarke were impressed with! We then walked back to the hotel to go to bed.

Day 1 in Valencia

We got stuck on the plane for 4hours while it got de-iced and then spent another 2hours on the plane travelling. There was quite bit of turbulence which I thought was really fun. We also got a free complimentary drink because of the delay. We took the metro into Valencia and from Ayora walked to our hotel. Travelled around the area we were staying including a visit to the 10th floor to have a birds eye view of the science museum, oceanography centre and museum of the Arts. We chose to take the stairs both ways to make up for sitting on the plane for so long. We walked through the park, saw lots of people running and bats flying around. we walked to El Salee and had dinner at the restaurant VIPS. I had a bacon and egg burger (with salad) which was delicious. We all managed to order in Spanish! Once we had finished we all went to the supermarket were people brought stuff to have during the night or the next day.when we got back at the hotel at about half nine we all got ready for bed and watched telly. The rooms in the hotel are pretty sweet, with a lovely bathroom.  Callum C

Wow, being a pilot!

The delay means we get an invite to the cockpit to talk to the pilots and see how they control the plane. When the pilot says its a joystick just like a computer game, he makes it sound easier than it is, with over 300 switches and buttons surrounding them. They all have a reminder above them just to remind you what they do. Does he love his job?? Absolutely!

Not quite go!

Everyone on time to the station and breakfast munching began as soon as settled on the train. Gatwick we have to be de iced!
